$2.8M (2012)

Demolition generally back to base shell of 670M2 of existing 1970’s

laboratory and office space. Construction of two PC2 research laboratories either side of an instrument room. Combined total of 14 ducted fume cupboards were included providing a major challenge to the HVAC design. The services consultants were able to design the HVAC system to permit all fume cupboards to be operating concurrently by providing sufficient make-up air via roof mounted supply fans. Lab gases including vacuum, N2, compressed air and natural gas.

Building 17 PC2 Laboratories
$3.4M (2014)

Demolition generally back to base shell of 525M2 of existing 1960’s

laboratory and office space. Construction of PC2 (QIC2-7.2) research laboratories including six insulated CT rooms (40C to 350C), wash room with lab glasswashers, preparation labs, molecular biology lab, insectary labs and store room. Lab design required strict controls to contain ingress and egress of insects, this included provision of air locks to facility with air curtains, the sealing of all services penetrations visible or concealed, detailing of laboratory benches to exclude concealed accessible gaps, cavities and the like. This approach extended to mechanical and electrical services. The facility was independently certified upon completion without the need for additional rectification works.
